About Fine Woodworks and
George J. Pandolph
After
building doors for more than 20 years, I've
developed a method that combines high quality
workmanship of wood, glass and bronze to produce
not just a door, but a piece of artwork. These
doors finish the entrance to any home, church
or business as no commercially stocked door
can. I work closely with individuals to design
an entryway that is unique and personal. I
can also work with customers who have their
own designs. Designs may include sidelights
and transoms.
All doors are primarily constructed of
Honduran mahogany or cherry because of their
stability and weather resistance. Once properly
fitted, these doors move very little compared
to standard oak or fir doors. All of the
doors are constructed with mortise and tenon
joints instead of dowels. Marine glue is
used for maximum strength
Since the glasswork is done in our studio,
it may be designed to suit any taste. The
mahogany or cherry may be stained or left
natural for a wide variation in hues. The
finish of these doors is marine varnish
for best appearance and protection.
